Spain defender Aymeric Laporte recently talked about rumors that Real Madrid is interested in signing him to strengthen their defense.
Real Madrid is looking for a new center-back after two of their players, Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal, suffered injuries. Militao will miss the rest of the season, and Carvajal is also dealing with injury problems. The club is focusing on finding a strong defender during the upcoming winter transfer window.
One of the top players on Real Madrid's list is Aymeric Laporte, who currently plays in Saudi Arabia after many successful years at Manchester City. Laporte says he still wants to play at the highest level in Europe, and he sees himself continuing his career in European football. He added that all of his family lives in Europe, which makes the idea of returning there even more appealing.
Laporte’s time in Europe with Manchester City was successful. He helped the team win many titles, including five Premier League championships in six years. However, he mentioned that winning with Spain and being part of their national team has been especially meaningful to him.
"For me, the European Championship was much more special than the Champions League," he said, highlighting the importance of playing with his teammates in Spain.
When asked about the rumors of Real Madrid's interest, Laporte replied,
“I’m not really paying attention to it. I’ve only seen what you have read in the news. But of course, I would listen to Real Madrid. You can't ignore a team like them."
